Green Sail Regatta

Green Sail would like to invite its partners to participate in the 2023 Green Sail Regatta in Šibenik.

The Regatta’s objective is to connect all Green Sail partners in a relaxed nautical environment that facilitates environmental discussion and highlights the importance of sustainable tourism and the prevention of waste generation in the sea.

Partners can participate in the Regatta sailing race, as well as the underwater and beach clean-up around the bay.

The event will conclude with a special Awards Dinner, to be held at Azimut club in Šibenik. This event will be covered by local and national media.

Saturday Evening - 21 October 2023

Event at Art House Arsen, Šibenik

  • 17:00 - 18:00 - Enjoy refreshments and connect with our sponsors
  • 18:00 - 18:30 - Sponsor presentations
  • 18:30 - 19:30 - Panel Discussions on Sustainability with Representatives from: Marinas, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Sea, Transport & Infrastructure & leading Scientists and Q&A
  • 20:00 - Finish

Regatta

Sunday Morning - 22 October 2023

  • 8:00 - 8:30 - Participants to gather in Šibenik port and collect their Green Sail flag for their vessel
  • 8:30 - 9:00 - Registration and meeting of Skippers
  • 9:30 - 13:00 - Regatta sailing race in the bay of Šibenik

Cleaning of Šibenik Bay Čapljina

Sunday Afternoon - 22 October 2023

  • 13:30 - 17:00 - Participants and underwater dive teams to take part in a clean up of Šibenik Bay
  • 17:00 - 17:30 - Arrival at Šibenik port (exact location to be sent via WhatApp) for T-shirt distribution and a group photo

Dinner and After Party

Sunday Evening - 22 October 2023

Event at Azimut Club, Šibenik

  • 19:00 - 19:30 - Winner announcement and prize giving
  • 19:30 - 20:30 - Dinner
  • 20:00 - 21:00 - Jazz band
  • 21:00 - 1:30 - After-party

How can I participate in the Green Sail Regatta?

Why should I take part?

  • Regatta participation is free and participants will receive a free invitation to the Green Sail Awards Dinner and after-party
  • A major prize will be awarded to the boat that passes the finish line first (to be announced shortly)
  • To connect with other Green Sail charter/marina partners, media, sponsors, volunteers, special guests and other associates in a friendly nautical environment
  • Participants will gain media exposure through Green Sail’s social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and website)
  • You will be helping to contribute to a cleaner environment and Green Sail's sustainability objectives

How can I apply?

  • Please note that the Regatta is exclusive to Green Sail partners only
  • Participants must provide their own boats and Skippers
  • The minimum age for participation is 18 years old. Children under the age of 18 are only allowed to participate when accompanied by, and under the responsibility of their parents.
  • Competitors participate at their own risk. The organiser accepts no responsibility for property damage, personal injury, before, during or after the Regatta.

Regatta FAQs

Yes, all participating boats will be provided with a free mooring in Šibenik port. The exact location will be provided to you via email prior to the event.

Breakfast and Lunch are not provided on Sunday 22 October and we would advise participants to bring packed lunches and snacks to eat during the Regatta and Bay Cleaning. On Sunday 22 October a buffet dinner is included, as is your drink on arrival, after which there is a bar where you can purchase drinks.

  • - Participants are not allowed to motor during the Regatta.
  • - A Green Sail flag must be present on all participating sailing boats (this will be provided).
  • - No single-use plastic cups or bottles are allowed on participating vessels and all waste must be taken back to the mainland.
  • - Participants must provide their own boats and Skippers.
  • - The minimum age for participation is 18 years old. Children under the age of 18 are only allowed to participate when accompanied by, and under the responsibility of their parents.
  • Competitors participate at their own risk. The organiser accepts no responsibility for property damage, personal injury, before, during or after the Regatta.
  • - Plastic straws and dinnerware will be banned at this event.
  • - We will be serving local food that is sourced in a sustainable way and any waste will be diverted from landfill.
  • - Green Sail will encourage participants to use green boating practices and advise how boats can prevent toxins from entering the water as well as wildlife and habitat protection
  • - This is a paperless event, and no paper will be used in managing and organising this event.
  • - Local suppliers have been used for this event to reduce our carbon footprint.
