We have a long history of working with charter companies, and we are proud of the grassroots initiatives, regulations and frameworks we have established together with our network of charter partners.
Charter Companies have the option of joining our Partner or Verified Partner program. Both methods aim to assist charter companies in reducing sea and coastal pollution, enhancing education, and establishing environmentally sustainable practices both internally and with clients.
We help our charter partners educate and support their staff and customers by offering marketing materials and classes on environmentally friendly sailing.
We cover a diverse range of topics, including our mission, while addressing key threats like sea pollution, ocean acidification, eutrophication, overfishing, and changes in biodiversity. Our syllabus also emphasizes waste management, wastewater treatment and climate change, empowering stakeholders to champion marine conservation and sustainable practices in the charter tourism industry.
We also offer a range of online course, quizes and other material to give partners the tools and information required to make environmentally friendly choices everyday.
The majority of customers who rent yachts want to sail sustainably- they just don't know how. By joining the 2000+ charter partners currently flying our Green Sail flags, we're changing this narrative.
These straightforward green flags serve as a reminder to the Charter Company's customers of their commitment to environmental sustainability. Onboard yachts flying the Green flag will also be recycling stickers and educational materials, both of which we freely shared with partners. These small but mighty flags also spark discussion about this significant subject among sailors!
The Green Sail Footprint program is a per vessel rating system that measures emissions and sustainability actions onboard a boat, resulting in a rating out of 5. This rating indicates the impact the vessel has on the environment, with 1 being a vessel that produces a significant environmental footprint, and 5 being a sustainable vessel that actively mitigates its impact on the environment.
The system works to reduce the impact the Yacht Charter industry has on the environment, allowing customers to make informed decisions that support green initiatives.
Green Sail have recently partnered with Sail Croatia to provide a new Learn to Sail course incorporating modules such as:
